The bass reliefs

The two reliefs above, represent the beginnings of the aqueduct.  One depicts the story of the maiden who pointed to Roman soldiers the place where the springs feed, the other represents Agrippa supervising its consturction.

Immortalized in the fountain's decoration, it's said, a young virgin named Trivia showed Roman soldiers the spring from which Agrippa later drew water for his baths near the Pantheon. Agrippa is said to have named both the Vergine aqueduct and its nearby fountain after Trivia.
